Program: Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Why participate in a external leadership program?
  2. Having external speakers, ‘real voices’ of leadership is key. Sharing real stories is a crucial way leaders learn – hearing other’s stories, sharing their own and hearing themselves within other women’s stories inspires and educates. A diverse support group is very important. This adds to the level of learning and the understanding that is key to leadership development.

  3. Who is right for this program?
  4. Our applicants needs to have “fire in the belly”; not necessarily just a talker but a ‘difference maker’; an emerging female leader who is about growth and self development and will do well in a collaborative learning environment. Someone who has initiative, who has shown they like and thrive on new challenges and learning and have a sense of mission. This woman wants to help themselves to help other to then make a difference!

    • Age 28-early 40’s
    • Has initative and some work success/accomplishments that point to leadership potential
    • Wants to lead and make an impact on her world
    • In a new role where she needs to lead
    • Needs skills, increased confidence and a community of support to go the next steps in her career.

  5. Why a woman’s leadership forum and not mixed?
  6. Women talk differently when it’s all women. We have seen this in business for 30 years. Though all leadership skills transfer to both men and women; women have different challenges in some ways than men. Creating a community of women is very powerful and we see women take significant risks when they feel supported in a community, preparing them to go out and do this in mixed contexts when men are present. They can ‘test out’ new ways of being in a safe environment so they can then go out and exhibit new behaviors.
